Steam Market selling requirements
Multisell only builds the listing page. Steam still enforces market rules before items actually list. The two most common blockers are Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator and a recent purchase on your account.
1. Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator (MFA)
To sell on the Community Market without long holds, enable the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator on the official Steam Mobile app and keep it attached for the required waiting period Steam shows in your account.
- Install the official Steam Mobile app.
- Sign in → Steam Guard → add authenticator to this phone.
- Confirm codes work. Steam may require you to wait several days after enabling before full market access.
- Confirm market listings in the app when Steam asks (after Multisell).

2. Recent purchase requirement
New or limited accounts often cannot use the Community Market until Steam sees a successful purchase associated with the account (for example a game, wallet funds, or in-game item, depending on Steam’s current rules). If Multisell opens but every listing fails or the market is locked, check Steam’s message on the market page — it usually states that a purchase is required.
- Make a normal purchase on Steam with a payment method Steam accepts.
- Wait until the transaction fully completes.
- Retry Multisell / market listing after a short wait.
3. Commodity items only
Steam Multisell works for commodity items (identical stackable goods such as cases, keys, many stickers, cards, crates). Unique items (most weapon skins with wear, unusuals, etc.) use normal single-item listing instead. Steam Bulk Sell only shows commodity items for that reason.
Quick checklist
- Logged into Steam in the same browser that opens Multisell
- Mobile authenticator active (and any Steam wait period finished)
- Account allowed to use the Community Market (purchase rules met)
- Items are commodities you actually own
