Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Steam Bulk Sell (steambulksell.com, "the site", "we") collects, why, and the choices you have. The site is a free tool that builds Steam Community Market Multisell links. It does not have user accounts, and it never asks for your Steam password, Steam Guard codes or a Steam Web API key.

What you give us

  • A public Steam profile identifier. To load your marketable items you paste a profile URL, a custom (vanity) URL name or a SteamID64. Our server uses it to request your *public* inventory from Steam, and the result is shown only to you.
  • Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, see "Contact form" below.

What is stored in your browser

The builder saves a few values in your browser's local storage so you don't have to retype them: the profile text you entered, your resolved SteamID64 and your Steam display name (smh_profile_input, smh_steamid, smh_persona). They stay on your device. You can delete them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

What our server processes

  • Inventory lookups. When you load an inventory, our server fetches it from Steam and keeps a short-lived copy in memory (normally about 10 minutes, and up to 6 hours as a fallback if Steam is temporarily unavailable) so repeat loads are fast and we don't overload Steam. Profile-name lookups are cached in memory for about an hour. These caches are not written to a database and are lost whenever the server restarts.
  • Item catalog. To show each game's list of commodity items, the site keeps a catalog of item *names, icons and how often each item has been seen*. The catalog does not record whose inventory an item came from.
  • Rate limiting and logs. To prevent abuse, the server counts requests per IP address in memory for a short period. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider may also keep standard access logs (IP address, time, requested page, browser user agent) for security and troubleshooting.

Contact form

The contact form collects only what you type into it:

  • your message and the topic you choose (required),
  • your name and a reply-to email address, only if you choose to give them,
  • the date and time the message was received.

We use this only to read and answer your message and to fix what you report. Your IP address is used briefly, in memory, to limit how many messages one connection can send; it is not saved with your message. The form uses no captcha, no third-party form service and no cookies.

Messages are stored in a private Google Cloud Firestore database (part of Google Firebase) that only the site owner can access, and may also be delivered to the owner as a private notification (for example a Discord channel or an email inbox). A copy may also be kept in a log file on our server. Messages are deleted automatically 12 months after they are received, or sooner if you ask us to delete them; copies already delivered as notifications are deleted by hand on request. We never publish messages or share them for marketing.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your Steam ID for advertising.

Steam

Item images and links on the site point to Valve's Steam servers (for example steamcommunity.com and Steam's image CDN), so your browser connects to Steam when it displays them. Opening a Multisell link takes you to steamcommunity.com, where Valve's privacy policy applies. Steam Bulk Sell is not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve Corporation.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are used and how visitors find the site. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and referring site. Google processes this data under its own policies; see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

The site is funded by ads served by Google AdSense.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Learn more in Google's advertising policies. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time from the consent message.

Your choices

  • Block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings; the builder still works without analytics or ad cookies.
  • Set your Steam profile and inventory back to private after you've generated your link; we only ever see what is public.
  • Contact us (below) with any question about your data, or to ask us to delete a message you sent. Because we don't keep accounts or permanent records tied to a Steam ID, there is usually nothing stored about you beyond the short-lived caches described above and any contact-form message you chose to send.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update it on this page and change the "Last updated" date above.
