CS2 Skins vs Commodities: Which CS2 Items You Can Bulk Sell
Summary: On the Steam Community Market, CS2 weapon skins are not commodities. Each wear level, StatTrak™ and Souvenir version has its own Market page, and within it each copy is listed separately, so skins must be sold one at a time. Cases, keys, sticker capsules, stickers, sealed graffiti, music kits and pins are commodities, meaning every copy is identical, so they trade through buy orders and can be listed together on Steam's Multisell page. In Steam's own Market data, checked on October 26, 2026, every AK-47 | Redline variant was flagged as a non-commodity and the Fever Case as a commodity. Charms were also flagged as non-commodities.
Open your Counter-Strike 2 inventory in Steam Bulk Sell and you'll notice that your weapon skins aren't in the list. That's on purpose, not a bug. Steam treats a CS2 skin very differently from a CS2 case, and only one of them can go on Steam's Multisell page. This guide explains the difference, how to tell which is which, and how to sell each kind.
The rule: commodities can be bulk listed, unique items can't
Steam's Community Market FAQ defines a commodity as an item where "all the items are identical, and can be traded interchangeably". For those items there are no individual listings to pick from. You place a buy order and Steam fills it from the cheapest listing.
Steam's Multisell page only accepts commodities. Anything that differs from copy to copy has to be listed on its own.
What Steam's data says
Every Market item carries a commodity flag set by Steam. We checked it with the Community Market search on October 26, 2026:
| Item searched | Variants returned | Steam's commodity flag |
|---|---|---|
| AK-47 | Redline | 10 variants: four exteriors, plus StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions | Not a commodity (all 10) |
| Fever Case | 1 | Commodity |
We also sampled pages of the CS2 Market sorted by name on the same day. Every Souvenir Glock-18 skin and every Charm we saw was flagged as a non-commodity. Every Sticker and Sticker Slab we saw was flagged as a commodity. That day, Steam's search reported about 35,500 CS2 items on the Market in total. Only the commodity share of those can go into a Multisell batch.
Why skins aren't commodities
A skin's Market name already tells you it comes in versions. The names Steam returned for the Redline include:
- Exterior (wear) in brackets. The Redline came back as Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, and our Glock-18 sample also included Factory New. Each exterior is a separate Market page with its own price.
- StatTrak™ versions, which are a separate Market name from the plain skin.
- Souvenir versions, also separate.
Steam flags every one of these as a non-commodity, and the same goes for charms. That flag is what keeps them off the Multisell page.
A case is the opposite. Every Fever Case is the same as every other Fever Case, so it doesn't matter which one a buyer gets.
Which CS2 items are commodities
These groups come from our own CS2 catalog, which only records items Steam marks as commodities. The names are exact Market names.
| Group | Examples from our catalog |
|---|---|
| Weapon cases | Fever Case, Gallery Case, Kilowatt Case, Recoil Case, Revolution Case, Dreams & Nightmares Case |
| Keys | Clutch Case Key, Gamma Case Key, Horizon Case Key, Glove Case Key, eSports Key, CS:GO Capsule Key |
| Sticker and autograph capsules | Budapest 2025 Legends Sticker Capsule, Paris 2023 Challengers Sticker Capsule, Shanghai 2024 Contenders Autograph Capsule, 10 Year Birthday Sticker Capsule |
| Stickers and slabs | Sticker | High Heat, Sticker | Kawaii T (Holo), Sticker | The MongolZ (Holo) | Paris 2023, Sticker Slab | Passion UA (Glitter) | Shanghai 2024 |
| Sealed graffiti | Sealed Graffiti | King Me (Desert Amber), Sealed Graffiti | X-Knives (Monster Purple) |
| Music kits | Music Kit | bbno$, u mad!; StatTrak™ Music Kit | Denzel Curry, ULTIMATE |
| Pins, passes, terminals and packages | Canals Pin, Militia Pin, Operation Vanguard Access Pass, Sealed Genesis Terminal, Anubis Collection Package |
| Souvenir charm | Souvenir Charm | Cologne 2026 Highlight | FalleN Quad Kill |
As with skins, StatTrak™ music kits are a separate commodity from the plain kit. Both can go in the same Multisell batch, but they're priced separately. The full list is on the CS2 Multisell page.
Quick test: is this CS2 item a commodity?
- The name has an exterior in brackets, such as (Field-Tested). It's a skin. Sell it on its own.
- It's a charm (the name starts with "Charm |"). In our sample, Steam flagged these as non-commodities.
- It's a case, key, capsule, sticker, graffiti, music kit, pin or pass. Almost certainly a commodity.
- Still unsure? Load your inventory in Steam Bulk Sell. It only shows items Steam has flagged as marketable commodities, so if an item shows up there, Multisell will accept it.
How to sell a CS2 skin
Because each skin is listed individually, you sell it from your inventory one at a time:
- Open your inventory, choose the Counter-Strike 2 tab and click the skin.
- Click Sell, and look at the Market page for the same exterior and the same StatTrak™ or Souvenir status. A Field-Tested price says little about a Factory New one.
- Enter your price, check what Steam says you'll receive, and confirm, in the Steam Mobile App if you use the authenticator.
Our how to sell items on Steam guide covers pricing and what happens after you list.
CS2 rules that apply to both kinds
From Steam's support FAQs:
- Fees. The 5% Steam Transaction Fee (minimum $0.01) plus a 10% Counter-Strike 2 game fee "determined and collected by the game publisher" (Market FAQ). By our arithmetic, you keep about 87% of what the buyer pays.
- Trade Protection, not trade holds. The Trade Protected Items FAQ says CS2 items "are not subject to trade holds or trade escrow". Instead, items you receive in a trade are Trade Protected for 7 days. In that time they "cannot be consumed, modified, or transferred", so you can't sell them yet.
- Reversals. Within those 7 days, the account owner can reverse their recent Trade Protected trades. The reversing account then can't trade or use the Market for 30 days, and Support can't lift that.
- VAC bans. The Restrictions FAQ says a VAC ban, cooldown or Overwatch ban removes access to the CS2 store and CS2 item trading.
- Market holds. If you haven't had the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator for 7 days, listings can be held for up to 15 days (Holds FAQ).
- Wallet cap. Your wallet tops out at $2000, and the largest single listing is about $1800. For expensive skins, check your balance first.
A sensible way to clear a CS2 inventory
- List commodities in bulk. Load the inventory in the CS2 builder, select the cases, capsules, stickers and graffiti, and open one Multisell link. Price against buy orders. The CS2 cases and capsules guide has batching tips.
- List skins one by one. Start with the most valuable and compare with listings of the same exterior.
- Mind the timing. Skip anything received in a trade in the last 7 days, and keep an eye on the wallet cap between batches.
Load your inventory in the CS2 Multisell builder to list every CS2 commodity you own on one page, and sell skins separately from your inventory.
