CS2 Market Guide: Bulk Sell Cases, Capsules and Keys on Steam

Summary: Counter-Strike 2 weapon cases, sticker capsules, sealed graffiti and music kits are commodity items, so they can be listed together on Steam's Multisell page; skins with their own wear and pattern cannot. Each sale carries Steam's 5% Steam Transaction Fee plus a 10% Counter-Strike 2 fee. Listings can be held for up to 15 days if the account hasn't had the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator for the last 7 days, and proceeds go to the Steam Wallet.

If you've played Counter-Strike 2 for a while, your inventory probably holds a mix of weapon cases, sticker capsules, sealed graffiti and the odd music kit. Listing them one at a time through Steam's sell dialog takes several clicks per item. Steam's Multisell page lets you list many stacks at once, and Steam Bulk Sell builds the link to that page for you.

This guide covers which CS2 items work with Multisell, how to group them, what Steam charges, and the account rules that most often stop a listing.

How the CS2 market works

The CS2 market is the part of the Steam Community Market that lists items from CS2 (Steam app 730). You can browse it directly at steamcommunity.com/market/search?appid=730. Each item has its own Market page showing current sell listings and buy orders.

CS2 weapon skins come in different wear levels and patterns, so most of them aren't commodities. Cases, capsules, sealed graffiti and similar items are, and those are what this guide covers.

When you sell, you set the price you want to receive and Steam adds its fees on top. For CS2 you keep about 87% of what the buyer pays, because Steam's 5% transaction fee and the 10% game fee are both added on top of your price (Market FAQ). Which CS2 items can you Multisell?

Multisell only accepts commodity items. Steam's Community Market FAQ defines a commodity as an item where "all the items are identical, and can be traded interchangeably". Every Kilowatt Case is the same as every other Kilowatt Case, so they're commodities. A weapon skin has its own float value and pattern, so it isn't. That's why the skins in your inventory won't appear in the builder.

Note that a StatTrak™ music kit and the plain version are separate commodities. They have different Market names and different prices, so the builder lists them separately.

Step by step

1. Check your account can sell. Steam requires a purchase older than 7 days (but not older than a year) and Steam Guard enabled for 15 days. See Steam Market selling requirements.
2. Make your inventory public. The builder reads public data only, with no login or API key. Here's how to set it.
3. Open the CS2 builder and paste your Steam profile URL, custom URL name or SteamID64, then click Load inventory.
4. Pick your items. Your CS2 commodities appear with quantities. Tick the ones you want to list, or use Select all.
5. Open the Multisell link in the browser where you're signed in to Steam. Steam's own Multisell page opens for app 730 with your items pre-filled.
6. Set prices and quantities on Steam, submit, and confirm the listings in the Steam Mobile App if you use the authenticator.

You can set your inventory back to private as soon as the link is built.

How to group CS2 items into batches

Multisell shows all selected items on one page, but each still gets its own price. A few habits make large batches easier to handle:

• One batch per item type. Cases in one link, capsules in another, graffiti in a third. Prices within a group tend to be closer together, so it's quicker to price them and easier to spot a typo.
• Do the cheap stuff separately. Sealed graffiti and many individual stickers often sell for very little. Steam's transaction fee has a $0.01 minimum, so on a very cheap item the fee is a big share of the price. On a $0.03 item, 5% would be $0.0015, so the $0.01 minimum applies instead, which is about a third of the price. Decide whether those are worth listing at all.
• Keys and newer cases first. Items with lots of buyers sell fastest, so list those while their price is current. Use the item links on the CS2 page to check the Market price and the buy orders before you set yours.

Pricing with buy orders

Commodity items don't have individual listings. Buyers place buy orders at the price they're willing to pay. According to Steam's Market FAQ, buy orders help sellers because "you can see what other users are willing to pay for an item, and you can choose if you want to do a lower price to sell immediately; or go for a higher price and wait".

In practice:

• To sell now, price at the highest buy order (or just under the cheapest listing).
• To get more, list above the highest buy order and wait for a buyer.
• When a buyer places a buy order, Steam looks for the cheapest listings and then picks the oldest one among them. If you list at exactly the same price as everyone else, you wait your turn.

CS2 fees

Two fees apply to CS2 Market sales, per Steam's Market FAQ:

• the Steam Transaction Fee: 5%, with a $0.01 minimum. The FAQ says the buyer pays it.
• the Counter-Strike 2 fee: set and collected by the publisher, currently 10%.

Holds and CS2-specific restrictions

• Market holds. If you haven't had the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator for at least the last 7 days, Steam can hold the items you list for up to 15 days before they appear on the Market (Trade and Market Holds FAQ).
• Recently bought items. Items bought in-game or on the Community Market aren't tradable or marketable until the date shown on the item in your inventory. If a case you just bought doesn't show up, that's usually why.
• VAC bans. According to Steam's Trading and Market Restrictions FAQ, an account with a VAC ban, cooldown or Overwatch ban loses access to the CS2 store and can't trade CS2 items.
• Trade Protection cooldowns. The same FAQ says an account can't make full use of the Market while a trade cooldown is in effect, including cooldowns from Steam's Trade Protection system.

Where the money goes

Market proceeds go to your Steam Wallet. Steam says these funds "cannot be withdrawn or transferred" to a bank or another account. Steam caps wallet balances at $2000 and won't let you list if your balance plus the sale price would go over it. If you sell a lot of CS2 items, spend your balance down before you list a big batch.

Common problems

• "My cases don't show up." Check that the inventory is public and that you're on the CS2 page (app 730). Recently bought items stay unmarketable until their date.
• "Steam says I can't use the Market." Usually it's the purchase or Steam Guard rule. Steam's message tells you which.
• "My listings aren't visible." They're probably on a market hold because the Mobile Authenticator hasn't been on your account for 7 days yet.
