Rust Market Guide: How to Bulk Sell Rust Skins and Crates on Steam

Summary: Rust skins on the Steam Community Market are commodities: every copy of a given skin is identical. In a 40-item sample of the Rust Market checked on October 26, 2026, Steam flagged every item as a commodity, and the Market listed 5,558 Rust items in total. That makes Rust skins and crates a good fit for Steam's Multisell page, and Steam Bulk Sell builds the link from a public Rust inventory. Steam's Market FAQ lists no separate Rust game fee, so you keep about 95% of what the buyer pays after the 5% Steam Transaction Fee.

Rust differs from CS2 in one way that matters a lot for bulk selling. A CS2 weapon skin comes in several exteriors and isn't a commodity, but Steam treats Rust skins as commodities on the Community Market: every copy of a given Rust skin is the same item. How the Rust market works

The Rust market is the part of the Steam Community Market that lists items from Rust (Steam app 252490). You can browse it directly at steamcommunity.com/market/search?appid=252490. Each item has its own Market page showing current sell listings and buy orders.

The Rust market by the numbers

We checked the Rust Market through Steam's own Community Market search on October 26, 2026:

That's very different from CS2. In a similar check, every AK-47 | Redline variant came back as a non-commodity (CS2 skins vs commodities). In Rust, the skin itself is the item. "Tiger AR" is one Market item with one price, and so is "High Quality Crate", so whole stacks go into one Multisell row.

Most Rust skins are typed Workshop Item, meaning they come from the Steam Workshop. The Steam Store lists Steam Workshop support for Rust. The four sampled items with no type were High Quality Crate, Snowcamo Jacket, Black Tshirt and Tiger Mask.

When you sell, you set the price you want to receive and Steam adds its fees on top. For Rust you keep about 95% of what the buyer pays, because Steam's 5% transaction fee is added on top of your price and there's no separate game fee (Market FAQ). What Rust items qualify

Steam's Market FAQ defines a commodity as an item where "all the items are identical, and can be traded interchangeably". Our Rust catalog shows how wide that is in Rust:

Step by step

1. Check your account. Steam needs a purchase older than 7 days (but not older than a year) and Steam Guard on for 15 days. See Steam Market selling requirements.
2. Make your inventory public (guide).
3. Open the Rust builder, paste your profile URL, custom URL name or SteamID64, and click Load inventory.
4. Select the skins and crates you want to sell. The builder shows how many of each you own.
5. Open the Multisell link while signed in to Steam. Steam's page loads for app 252490.
6. Price, submit and confirm. With the Mobile Authenticator you confirm in the Steam Mobile App.

Organizing a big Rust batch

Rust inventories mix very cheap items with a few valuable ones. Some tips:

• Price the expensive skins on their own. Popular weapon and door skins can be worth far more than common clothing. List those in a small batch where you can double-check each price.
• Group by slot. Doors with doors, clothing with clothing, deployables with deployables. Similar items usually have similar prices, so outliers are easier to spot.
• Don't forget crates. Crates, bags and boxes such as the High Quality Crate, High Quality Bag and Gun Box are commodities too and can go in the same link.
• Check the low end. Steam's 5% transaction fee has a $0.01 minimum, so on items under about $0.20 the minimum takes a bigger share. Bundle the cheap items or keep them.

Pricing with buy orders

Because Rust skins are commodities, they trade through buy orders. Steam's Market FAQ says buy orders let you "see what other users are willing to pay for an item, and you can choose if you want to do a lower price to sell immediately; or go for a higher price and wait". When a buy order comes in, Steam picks the oldest of the cheapest listings, so if you match the lowest price exactly you join the back of the queue.

Fees for Rust

Steam's Market FAQ lists the Steam Transaction Fee of 5% (minimum $0.01), which it says the buyer pays. The FAQ lists separate game fees only for Counter-Strike 2, Team Fortress 2, Dota 2 and Artifact, and Rust isn't one of them. Holds and timing

• Market holds. Without the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator for at least the last 7 days, listed items can be held for up to 15 days before buyers see them (Holds FAQ).
• Recently bought skins. Steam's Restrictions FAQ says items bought in-game or on the Market aren't tradable or marketable until the date on the item in your inventory. Check the item's description in your inventory for the date.

Where the money goes

Sales go to your Steam Wallet, which Steam caps at $2000. You can't list an item if your balance plus its price would go over the cap. Steam also says Market funds can't be withdrawn or transferred to a bank, so plan to spend them on Steam.

Troubleshooting

• A skin is missing. It may still be locked after a recent purchase. Check its marketable date.
• The inventory won't load. Make your profile and inventory public, wait a minute and retry.
• Listings don't appear on the Market. They're probably on a market hold because the Mobile Authenticator hasn't been active for 7 days yet.
